Originally scheduled to appear in May 1989, it wasn't until August 1989 that the (Y23-2) 1930 AC Mack Tanker did finally arrive. Initially the appearance was spoilt by the twin rear wheels being too wide and many designs of wheel were made before the R&D Department were satisfied with the general appearance. However, several models were found, mainly in Belgium and Australia, fitted with final pre-production front wheels, Type 1 (hub pattern 12 mm wide with 8 ribs), which had not been intended to be fitted to production models.
